LISINOPRIL AND HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE

Warning

Use in pregnancy can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
• History of angioedema related to previous treatment with an ACE inhibitor
• Hereditary or idiopathic angioedema
• Anuria or hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide-derived drugs

Adverse Reactions

• Angioedema
• Hypotension
• Renal impairment
• Hyperkalemia
• Cough
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Orthostatic effects

General Guidance

Dosage higher than lisinopril 80 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg should not be used

Pregnancy

• Use in pregnancy can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus
• Discontinue as soon as possible when pregnancy is detected

Nursing Mothers

• It is not known whether lisinopril is secreted in human milk
• Thiazides do appear in human milk
• A decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug

Pediatric Use

• Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established

Geriatric Use

• Clinical studies did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over
• Dose selection should be cautious, usually starting at the low end of the dosing range
