Amlodipine Besylate is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension, coronary artery disease, and angina. It works by relaxing blood vessels, reducing blood pressure, and increasing oxygen supply to the heart. The usual initial dose is 5 mg once daily, with a maximum dose of 10 mg once daily. Amlodipine Besylate is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to the drug. Common adverse reactions include edema, dizziness, flushing, and palpitations. Special considerations are needed for use during pregnancy, in nursing mothers, pediatric patients, and geriatric patients.
