PIROXICAM
Manufacturer: Bryant Ranch Prepack
Score: 145.0
Piroxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the relief of symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation. Piroxicam has a long half-life, allowing for once-daily dosing, but its use is associated with an increased risk of serious cardiovascular and gastrointestinal events. The recommended dose is 20 mg once daily, and dose adjustments may be necessary in certain populations, such as the elderly or those with renal impairment. Piroxicam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug, a history of asthma or allergic reactions to NSAIDs, or in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
