General Guidance

Adult Dose

0.25% to 0.5% solution, 1 to 60 mL (2.5 to 300 mg)

Pediatric Dose

Not recommended for pediatric patients younger than 12 years

Epidural block

Adult Dose

0.5% to 0.75% solution, 10 to 20 mL (50 to 150 mg)

Pediatric Dose

Not recommended for pediatric patients younger than 12 years

Special Population Considerations

Pregnancy

  • Bupivacaine hydrochloride is contraindicated for obstetrical paracervical block anesthesia
  • Use with caution in pregnant women, as it may cause fetal bradycardia and death

Nursing Mothers

  • Caution should be exercised when administering the drug to nursing mothers, as it may be excreted in human milk

Pediatric Use
